Hallmarking Information

Francesca Serra Jewellery is committed to complying with the Hallmarking Act 1973.

Hallmarking is an independent guarantee of precious metal content and provides assurance that precious metal items meet legally required standards of purity.

What Is a Hallmark?

A hallmark is an official mark applied by a UK Assay Office after testing a precious metal item.

A full hallmark consists of:

  • Sponsor's Mark
  • Assay Office Mark
  • Metal Fineness Mark

Weight Exemptions

Under UK law, certain precious metal items below the following weights are exempt from compulsory hallmarking:

  • Silver: 7.78g or less
  • Gold: 1g or less

Where hallmarking is legally required, eligible Francesca Serra Jewellery products will be independently hallmarked by an official UK Assay Office.
